Résumé

About me

Hello! I'm Konstantinos Vlamis. I got introduced to programming during high school and immediately fell in love with developing things from scratch.

These days my main interest revolves around Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. More specifically, I am passionate about developing and training Deep Learning models from scratch using different learning paradigms primarily for computer vision tasks.

Outside of coding, you'll find me playing Padel and Football.

Projects

  1. BSc Second Year Group Project

    Recycle Tracker Web Application

Led a team of five fellow students to develop a web application for the software engineering group project. This is a web application that allows users to track their recycling history by logging their recycled items. It also incorporates a functionality to establish friends and compete in a leaderboard. The application incorporates a custom rewarding system that rewards users based on their recycled items and their daily streaks.

  2. BSc Final Year Dissertation Project

Investigating the suitability of using synthetic data in deep learning for lung cancer classification

This dissertation project investigates the suitability of using synthetic data as a novel data augmentation technique used during the training process of deep learning models for the medical imaging task of lung cancer classification. The project indicated that synthetic data as a data augmentation technique yields significant performance improvements in the classification of capabilities of deep learning models when trained from scratch in a supervised manner, whereas they yield smaller performance improvements when the deep learning models are initially pre-trained and only fine-tuned on the downstream task.
